NSFAS provides financial assistance in the form of a study bursary to qualifying students who wish to study or are already studying at TVET colleges and public universities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>WHAT DOES THE NSFAS BURSARY COVER?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Applicants who are approved for NSFAS funding are covered for the following:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Registration<\/li><li>Tuition<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Allowances for:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Food<\/li><li>Accommodation or transport<\/li><li>Learning material<\/li><li>Personal care<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>WHO QUALIFIES FOR THE BURSARY?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You qualify for a NSFAS bursary if you are a South African citizen who plans to study in 2026 or you are already studying at a public university or TVET college and you meet the following requirements:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>SASSA grant recipients or<\/li><li>Your combined household income is not more than R350 000 per year or<\/li><li>Person with a disability with a combined household income of not more than R600 000 per year or<\/li><li>Student who begun their university studies before 2018 and their household income is not more than R122 000 per year<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>WHAT IS REQUIRED DURING THE APPLICATION PROCESS?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>NSFAS &nbsp;may need more information from you to process your application, check what supporting documents are required and ensure that you have all the relevant information.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You will need the following to complete your NSFAS application:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Your own cellphone number and email address<\/li><li>Copy of your ID or birth certificate<\/li><li>ID copies of parents, guardian or spouse<\/li><li>Your proof of income or 1 year\u2019s IRP5 (if applicable)<\/li><li>Your parents, guardian or spouse\u2019s proof of income<\/li><li>If you are a SASSA grant recipient, no proof of income will be required<\/li><li>Applicants with a disability must submit a completed and signed Disability Annexure A Form,&nbsp;<strong>click here to download<\/strong><\/li><li>An applicant who is recognised as a Vulnerable Child by the Department of Social Development must provide a completed and signed Vulnerable Child Declaration and Consent Form,&nbsp;<strong>click here to download.<\/strong><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>HOW AND WHERE TO APPLY<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>You can apply online using a cellphone, tablet or computer. Follow these simple steps to apply:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Step 1: Go to&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.nsfas.org.za\/\">www.nsfas.org.za<\/a>&nbsp;and click on the \u2018myNSFAS\u2019 tab<br>Step 2: Create a myNSFAS account<br>Step 3: Click on the \u2018APPLY\u2019 tab and answer the questions on the screen<br>Step 4: Upload the required supporting documents then click on \u2018submit\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After you click on \u2018submit\u2019, your application reference number will appear on the screen.
