Before it became a metropolitan municipality, it was part of the Amathole District Municipality, before the separation occurred in 2011.<\/p><div class=\"forms-atf\" style=\"margin-top: 15px;margin-bottom: 20px;\" id=\"forms-3188951932\"><script async src=\"https:\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js?client=ca-pub-9198760278752355\"\n     crossorigin=\"anonymous\"><\/script>\n<!-- Responsive ads atf -->\n<ins class=\"adsbygoogle\"\n     style=\"display:block\"\n     data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-9198760278752355\"\n     data-ad-slot=\"8381596201\"\n     data-ad-format=\"auto\"\n     data-full-width-responsive=\"true\"><\/ins>\n<script>\n     (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});\n<\/script><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>The municipality includes the towns of Bhisho, King William\u2019s Town and East London and the townships of Zwelitsha and Mdantsane.<br>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">ABOUT THE BURSARY PROGRAMME \u2013 FIELDS COVERED<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The Buffalo City Metropolitan Municipality Mayoral Bursary will be awarding within the following fields of study:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><ins><\/ins><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Civil Engineering<\/li><li>Electrical Engineering<\/li><li>Mechanical Engineering<\/li><li>Quantity Surveying<\/li><li>Land Surveying<\/li><li>Town and Regional Planning<\/li><li>Architecture<\/li><li>Building<\/li><li>Facilities Management<\/li><li>Accounting<\/li><li>Economics<\/li><li>Analytical Chemistry<\/li><li>Biochemistry<\/li><li>Microbiology<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">MORE ABOUT THE BURSARY PROGRAMME \u2013 COVERAGE VALUE &amp; RENEWAL<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The following expenses will be covered by the bursary award: registration fees, tuition fees, accommodation, study materials and prescribed books.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Students will be selected based on academic merit and the bursary is renewable each year based on satisfactory academic performance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Shortlisted applicants will be contacted to attend a personal interview. If you have not received any feedback by 29 January 2026 at the latest, please regard your application as unsuccessful.<br>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Applicants must satisfy the following minimum entry criteria before applying (please note that failure to satisfy all the requirements will lead to your application not being considered):<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>South African citizen<\/li><li>Between 14 and 35 years old<\/li><li>Permanently reside within the Buffalo City Metropolitan Municipality area<\/li><li>From a previously disadvantaged background<\/li><li>Willing to work within the Buffalo City once graduated<\/li><li>Completed Matric OR an NCV Level 4 certificate with Mathematics<\/li><li>Achieved a minimum \u201cC\u201d symbol\/ 60-69% for Mathematics in Matric<\/li><li>Achieved a minimum \u201cC\u201d symbol\/ 60-69% for Accounting in Matric<\/li><li>Achieved a minimum \u201cC\u201d symbol\/ 60-69% for Physical Science in Matric<\/li><li>Achieved a minimum \u201cD\u201d symbol\/ 50-59% for English in Matric<\/li><li>Studying or intend on studying full time within one of the aforementioned fields of study<\/li><li>Studying or intend on studying at a tertiary institute within South African (preferably within the Eastern Cape)<\/li><li>Preference will be given to students who are studying or have been accepted to study at a TVET College<\/li><li>Students with disabilities are encouraged to apply<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">HOW TO APPLY FOR THE BURSARY<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Download and complete the&nbsp;<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.zabursaries.co.za\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/Buffalo-City-Bursary-Application-Form.pdf\">Buffalo City Bursary Application Form<\/a><\/strong>&nbsp;(.pdf)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Alternatively, application forms can be collected from any of the following Buffalo City Metropolitan Municipality Youth Advisory Centers:<br>\u2013 Duncan Village Art Centre<br>\u2013 East London Trust Centre Building (7th Floor Office 706)<br>\u2013 King William\u2019s Town Civic Centre<br>\u2013 Mdantsane Library Complex<br>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Submit clear copies of the following supporting documentation along with your completed application form (the submission of these documents is compulsory \u2013 if any items are missing, your application be disregarded):<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>ID document (certified copy)<\/li><li>Latest academic record (certified copy)<\/li><li>Proof of residence in Buffalo City Municipality\/ letter from the ward councillor confirming residency<\/li><li>Proof of household income<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Applications must be submitted in one of the following ways:<br>1) Hand delivery:<br>Buffalo City Municipality<br>Human Resources Department<br>Buxton House<br>Buxton Street<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>2) Post:<br>Buffalo City Municipality<br>Human Resources Department<br>P.O.
