For further information contact Andisa Magqabi at 043 704 7225 or e-mail her at <a href=\"mailto:andisam@eduloan.co.za\">andisam@eduloan.co.za.<\/a> Fax: 086 630 4347.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ol start=\"5\">\n<li><strong> FINANCIAL AID &amp; BURSARIES<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>5.1.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/strong>The University currently offers financial aid to South African citizens who are financially needy and who show academic potential.<\/p>\n<p><strong>5.2.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/strong>Students are required to apply annually for financial aid and any aid granted is granted for one academic year only.<\/p>\n<p><strong>5.3.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/strong>Funding for such financial aid is made through the National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) and hence the size of any award is determined according to the NSFAS means test.<\/p>\n<p><strong>5.4.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/strong>The closing date for application for financial aid is the <strong>31<\/strong><strong>st <\/strong><strong>August 2016 <\/strong>for Senior Students and <strong>30 September 2016 <\/strong>in respect of returning students.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>5.5.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/strong>First Year Student will only be given an application form for Financial Assistance upon providing the Financial Aid Office with a letter from the University indicating that the student has been either accepted or provisionally accepted for the 2015 academic year.<\/p>\n<p><strong>5.5.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/strong>The value of the NSFAS award will only be credited to the student\u2019s fee account in the third term, once all bursaries have been awarded and paid into the student\u2019s account. This is to ensure that the loans granted are as low as possible.<\/p>\n<p><strong>5.6.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/strong>Students receiving NSFAS loans will be required to complete an application form and a loan agreement before any payment will be effected.<\/p>\n<p><strong>5.7.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/strong>The allocation received from NSFAS is limited and hence the Financial Aid Committee of the University, who makes financial aid awards, must ensure that as many students are supported as possible while at the same time taking into account financial need. Students are therefore advised that registering on the basis of receiving a full loan from NSFAS should not be considered and that a family contribution as determined by the Means Test may be required.<\/p>\n<p><strong>5.8\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/strong>It is also important to note that there are various different kinds of funding made available each year through NSFAS.
