NSFAS beneficiaries are provided with a student allowance on a monthly basis. These allowances are paid in cash, either directly to the student via NSFAS Wallet or via the institution to the student.\u00a0<\/p><div class=\"forms-atf\" style=\"margin-top: 15px;margin-bottom: 20px;\" id=\"forms-276764836\"><script async src=\"https:\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js?client=ca-pub-9198760278752355\"\n     crossorigin=\"anonymous\"><\/script>\n<!-- Responsive ads atf -->\n<ins class=\"adsbygoogle\"\n     style=\"display:block\"\n     data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-9198760278752355\"\n     data-ad-slot=\"8381596201\"\n     data-ad-format=\"auto\"\n     data-full-width-responsive=\"true\"><\/ins>\n<script>\n     (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});\n<\/script><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>According to the <a href=\"https:\/\/forms24.co.za\/data\/nsfas-website\/\">NSFAS website<\/a>, the following allowances are included in the bursary:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>UNIVERSITY<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Accommodation: amount is the actual cost charged by the university. If private, the cost must not exceed costs for university residence.<\/li><li>Transport: R7 500 per annum (up to 40 km from institution)<\/li><li>Living allowance: R15 000 per annum<\/li><li>Book allowance: R5200 per annum (only applies at universities)<\/li><li>Personal Care allowance: R2900 per annum<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>TVET\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Accommodation:<ul><li>in urban area &#8211; R24 000 per annum<\/li><li>in peri-urban area &#8211; R18 900 per annum<\/li><li>in rural area &#8211; R15 750 per annum&nbsp;<\/li><\/ul><\/li><li>Transport: R7 350 (up to 40 km from institution)<\/li><li>Personal Care allowance: R2 900 per annum&nbsp;<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>1.&nbsp; Book Allowance&nbsp;<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p><br>All NSFAS students qualify for a book allowance of up to&nbsp;<strong>R5 200<\/strong>&nbsp;for the year.&nbsp; Students registered for the full year will receive the maximum book allowance during February 2020.&nbsp; Students registered for one semester only, will qualify for&nbsp;<strong>R2 600<\/strong>&nbsp;book allowance.&nbsp; Please note that should you cancel your studies for the second semester and have received your book allowance for the year, you will be liable for the outstanding balance of R2 600.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Book allowance for students registered for the full year will be paid in two payments of R2 600 each during the week of 10 February 2020.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>2.&nbsp; Meal Allowance&nbsp;<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p><br>All NSFAS students qualify for a meal allowance of up to&nbsp;<strong>R15 000<\/strong>&nbsp;for the year, except distance-learning students.&nbsp; The allowance for students registered for the full year will be paid over a period of 10 months (Feb\u2013Nov).&nbsp; Students registered for one semester only, will receive&nbsp;<strong>R7<\/strong>&nbsp;<strong>500<\/strong>&nbsp;over a period of five (5) months (Semester 1: Feb\u2013Jun or Semester 2: Jul-Nov).&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong><br>3.&nbsp; Private Accommodation&nbsp;Allowance&nbsp;<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p><br>A valid lease agreement must be uploaded with the private accommodation online application process before the application will be considered.\u00a0 After approval of your private accommodation application, you will receive your payment during the first week of the following month.\u00a0 The first payment will include your rental payment up to date.\u00a0 Payment will depend on your rental period and amount.\u00a0 <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Please note that you will not receive payment for private accommodation if you are staying in an on-campus residence or at home.\u00a0 Distance-learning students also do not qualify for the private accommodation allowance.\u00a0 The maximum private accommodation allowance for 2020 is\u00a0<strong>R34 400<\/strong>\u00a0for a student registered for the full year.\u00a0 The maximum for a student registered for one semester is\u00a0<strong>R17 200<\/strong>.<\/p><div class=\"forms-content\" id=\"forms-4236441232\"><div style=\"width: 300px; padding: 20px; margin: 0 auto; border: 1px solid #ddd; border-radius: 8px; background-color: #f9f9f9; text-align: center; font-family: Arial, sans-serif;\">\r\n    <p style=\"font-size: 16px; margin: 0 0 10px;\">Need Information or Confused about Something ? <\/p>\r\n    <a href=\"https:\/\/onlineapplications.co.za\/ask\/\" style=\"display: inline-block; padding: 10px 20px; background-color: #007BFF; color: #fff; text-decoration: none; border-radius: 4px; transition: background-color 0.3s;\">Ask a Question<\/a>\r\n<\/div>\r\n<\/div><div class=\"forms-btf\" style=\"margin-top: 15px;margin-bottom: 20px;\" id=\"forms-3214748239\"><script async src=\"https:\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js?client=ca-pub-9198760278752355\"\n     crossorigin=\"anonymous\"><\/script>\n<!-- Responsive ads btf -->\n<ins class=\"adsbygoogle\"\n     style=\"display:block\"\n     data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-9198760278752355\"\n     data-ad-slot=\"5513273173\"\n     data-ad-format=\"auto\"\n     data-full-width-responsive=\"true\"><\/ins>\n<script>\n     (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});\n<\/script><\/div>\n<div class=\"forms-cpc\" id=\"forms-1679032046\"><hr>\n<h1>Did You Know : Top 15 Free Online Learning Platforms<\/h1>\n\n<ol>\n  <li>\n    <strong>Free Online Education Degrees : Coursera:<\/strong>\n    <p>Coursera partners with universities and organizations worldwide to offer a wide range of courses.
