{"id":6829,"date":"2024-02-15T23:53:47","date_gmt":"2024-02-15T23:53:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/collegeguide.co.za\/?page_id=6829"},"modified":"2024-02-15T23:53:47","modified_gmt":"2024-02-15T23:53:47","slug":"does-nsfas-fund-nelson-mandela-university","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/forms24.co.za\/data\/does-nsfas-fund-nelson-mandela-university\/","title":{"rendered":"Does Nsfas fund Nelson Mandela University?"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Before registering as a student, you need to determine whether you will have sufficient funds to finance your studies.<\/strong><\/p><div id=\"forms-725452226\" class=\"forms-atf forms-entity-placement\" style=\"margin-top: 15px;margin-bottom: 20px;\"><script async src=\"https:\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js?client=ca-pub-9198760278752355\"\n     crossorigin=\"anonymous\"><\/script>\n<!-- Responsive ads atf -->\n<ins class=\"adsbygoogle\"\n     style=\"display:block\"\n     data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-9198760278752355\"\n     data-ad-slot=\"8381596201\"\n     data-ad-format=\"auto\"\n     data-full-width-responsive=\"true\"><\/ins>\n<script>\n     (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});\n<\/script><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Costs involved in higher education include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Registration, enrollment &amp; tuition fees;<\/li><li>Textbooks, study material &amp; stationery;<\/li><li>Sports equipment (if applicable);<\/li><li>Travel and transport;<\/li><li>Meals;<\/li><li>On- or off-campus accommodation and general living expenses.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>NSFAS exists to provide financial aid to eligible students at public TVET colleges and public universities;<\/li><li>NSFAS identifies eligible students, provides bursaries and collects past student loan repayments to replenish the funds available for future generations of students; and,<\/li><li>NSFAS supports access to, and success in, higher education and training for students from poor and working-class families who would otherwise not be able to afford to study.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">NSFAS Applications for the 2026 academic year have closed. 2026 NSFAS application dates will be communicated on all NSFAS social media platforms and on www.nsfas.org.za<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">NSFAS students and prospective NSFAS students are required to open and regularly check their myNSFAS accounts for NSFAS funding related information.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To log into your myNSFAS go to\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.nsfas.org.za\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">www.nsfas.org.za<\/a>, go to the myNSFAS tab and follow the log in process explained on screen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>What does the bursary cover?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Accommodation<\/li><li>Transport (up to 40 km from institution)<\/li><li>Living allowance<\/li><li>Book allowances<\/li><li>Incidental\/personal care allowance<\/li><li>Registration<\/li><li>Tuition<\/li><li>Funded students with disabilities need to submit claims for Assistive Devices and Human Support directly to the university\u2019s Student Support Services\/Financial Aid office.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Who qualifies for NSFAS funding?<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>All South African citizens<\/li><li>All SASSA grant recipients<\/li><li>Applicants whose combined household income is not more than R350 000 per annum<\/li><li>Persons with a disability with a combined household income not more than R600 000 per annum<\/li><li>Students who have started studying before 2018 whose household income is not more than R122 000 per annum<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Additional support:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">NSFAS funded students who have a disability are further supported through an additional allowance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Please contact the Disability Unit or Financial Aid Office at your university for assistance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Below are the Additional Allowances;<\/p><div id=\"forms-2547066570\" class=\"forms-content forms-entity-placement\"><div style=\"width: 300px; padding: 20px; margin: 0 auto; border: 1px solid #ddd; border-radius: 8px; background-color: #f9f9f9; text-align: center; font-family: Arial, sans-serif;\">\r\n    <p style=\"font-size: 16px; margin: 0 0 10px;\">Need Information or Confused about Something ?
