{"id":60022,"date":"2024-11-29T17:05:16","date_gmt":"2024-11-29T17:05:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/nursing24.co.za\/?page_id=32"},"modified":"2024-11-29T17:05:16","modified_gmt":"2024-11-29T17:05:16","slug":"south-african-nursing-council","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/forms24.co.za\/data\/south-african-nursing-council\/","title":{"rendered":"South African Nursing Council SANC"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>South African Nursing Council SANC<\/h2>\n<h4>What is the\u00a0South African Nursing Council?<\/h4>\n<p>South African Nursing Council\u00a0is the body entrusted to set and maintain standards of nursing education and practice in the Republic of South Africa.\u00a0 It is an autonomous, financially independent, statutory body, initially established by the Nursing Act, 1944 (Act No. 45 of 1944), and currently operating under the Nursing Act, 2005 (Act No. 33 of 2005).<\/p><div id=\"forms-3251189326\" class=\"forms-atf forms-entity-placement\" style=\"margin-top: 15px;margin-bottom: 20px;\"><script async src=\"https:\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js?client=ca-pub-9198760278752355\"\n     crossorigin=\"anonymous\"><\/script>\n<!-- Responsive ads atf -->\n<ins class=\"adsbygoogle\"\n     style=\"display:block\"\n     data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-9198760278752355\"\n     data-ad-slot=\"8381596201\"\n     data-ad-format=\"auto\"\n     data-full-width-responsive=\"true\"><\/ins>\n<script>\n     (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});\n<\/script><\/div>\n<h3>Setting and Monitoring of Standards<\/h3>\n<p>In terms of Section 3 of the Nursing Act, 2005, the\u00a0Nursing Council\u00a0is to establish, improve and control conditions, standards and quality of nursing education and training.<\/p>\n<p>Section 4 of the Nursing Act makes provision for the accreditation and inspection of nursing education institutions, the monitoring of assessments conducted by accredited institutions, the conducting of nursing examinations, and the granting of diplomas and certificates.<\/p>\n<p>Section 58(1)(f) of the Nursing Act, 2005 provides for the making of regulations relating to qualifications and the conditions to be complied with, which entitle a person to be registered as a nursing practitioner (education and training regulations).<\/p>\n<p>South African Nursing Council\u00a0is involved in the monitoring of nursing standards by:<\/p>\n<p>registering nurse practitioners, therefore permitting them to practise as nurses;<\/p>\n<p>accreditation of new nursing education institutions and nursing education programmes;<\/p>\n<p>inspection of nursing education institutions and clinical facilities;<\/p>\n<p>constantly reviewing nursing education and training to be in line with the needs of the Republic of South Africa;
