UFS Self Service

UFS self service is an online portal for the students of the University of the Free State to enable them register and perform school activities throughout their time in the university.

The University of the Free State student portal enable students access to Ufs student self serviceUFS blackboard (elearn), timetables, Ufs4life emails, library, exams results, and protection services.

Ufs oracle

Likewise other student portal interface like the ITS Web Enabler Interface of some universities, the ufs self service has the ufs oracle peoplesoft user interface which require your user ID and password to access;

  • academic records
  • financial records
  • timetables
  • proof of registration
  • housing and residence affairs
  • Internet billing
  • Internet records and billing

NB: Internet billing is applicable to registered students only.

PeopleSoft applications are used by human resource departments in large corporations.
These applications include human resource management systems (HRMS), customer relationship management (CRM), financials and supply chain management (FSCM) and enterprise performance management (EPM).

Is PeopleSoft the same as Oracle?

The PeopleSoft name and product line are now marketed by Oracle. PeopleSoft Financial Management Solutions (FMS) and Supply Chain Management (SCM) are part of the same package, commonly known as Financials and Supply Chain Management (FSCM).

How do I change my UFS password?

UFS students must change their passwords every 90 days. You will receive an email notification informing you that your password is about to expire.

You may also choose to change your password regularly for security reasons.

You will use your password to access your email, logon to the internet on campus and even your registration on PeopleSoft.

Before you change your password let’s look at Ufs password policy in the image below. This will guide you in changing your password.

How to change ufs password

To change your password;

  1. Navigate to the self service website on your web browser,
  2. Login by typing in your UFS student number and your current password,
  3. Click on the first option (Change Password…Change your current password),
  4. Type in a new password in the New Password and Confirm Password Text boxes.

Click “Change Password“. Note that previously used passwords are not allowed.

Due to the sensitive nature of your data, the password requires some complexity. Consult the password policy above for password requirements.

If a password is entered that does not meet the requirements, the system will inform you with the following dialog:

You will see the following screen whilst your password is being changed. Just be patient for it to load.

If your password does meet the requirements, you will receive the following dialog, informing you that you have successfully changed your password.

Click “Continue

Your password has been changed successfully. See how easy it is?

Forgotten password?

If you have forgotten your password, click on “Forgotten Password” and follow the prompts to reset your password.

In order to reset your password the University of the Free State (UFS) will send an SMS message to the mobile number, or an email to your personal email address, available for your account on the UFS system.

This system will provide you with a security code required to reset your password. By clicking the Search button you give the UFS permission to send the SMS to your mobile number or the email to your personal email address.
