Stenden South Africa is a private higher educational institution situated in the picturesque town of Port Alfred in the Eastern Cape.It is currently the only Higher Education institution in South Africa to offer the prestigious 3 year Bachelors of Commerce (B.Com) Hospitality Management Degree.

Stenden’s mission is to educate future hotel managers in a value driven manner to become exemplary leaders of industry, unleashing potential in our students, staff and surrounding communities. It pursues this through a strong focus on ‘Real World Learning’ that focuses on developing competencies through engaging in real World problems. This is done through Problem Based Learning and in the MyPond Hotel, a commercial 4 star boutique hotel, managed by Stenden South Africa (www.mypondhotel.com).

Stenden South Africa is a satellite campus of Stenden University of Applied Sciences in Leeuwarden, The Netherlands. Other satellite campuses are in Thailand (Bangkok), Indonesia (Bali) and Qatar (Doha). Students are able to complete a part of their degree at any of the other Stenden campus sites through an exchange program called Grand Tour.

Both local and international students are encouraged to participate in Stenden South Africa’s Community development programmes and to use their personal and professional skills for the improvement of individuals living in communities surrounding Port Alfred. At present, Stenden South Africa is involved in around 50 projects in its surrounding community.
