It services major industries in these areas, in the sectors of iron- and steel manufacturing, mining (main coal), textile and clothing production, cement chemical manufacturing, tyre production, engineering and primary agriculture.

There are 7 Campuses, spread over a wide geographical area that includes Newcastle, Madadeni and Dundee. The College offers a diverse range of nationally recognised vocational and occupational programmes.
