Number of Awards & Eligibility: Five awards offered annually.In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a resident of an eligible California county.
  3. Must be of Filipino heritage (50 percent or more).
  4. Must major in math, computer science, engineering or the physical or biological sciences (excluding healthcare).
  5. Must enroll full time at a four-year college or university.
  6. Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
  7. Must be a graduating high school senior at time of application.
  8. Must have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher.

Description: This award is available for Filipino high school seniors who are a resident of California. Applicants must major in math, engineering, computer science, or the physical or biological sciences (excluding healthcare). Applicants must have a GPA of 3.0 or higher. Additional Information: The criteria for selecting scholarship recipients are: academic achievement; personal strengths (such as maturity and motivation, potential to succeed, etc.); well-informed educational and career goals in engineering/science; participation in family and community activities; honors; work experience; and financial need.

Award Amount: $5,000 annually, renewable for up to three years if the scholar continues to meet the eligibility criteria each year.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $25,000.

Deadline Information: Deadline for this scholarship is Friday, February 26, Applications are available on the Asian Pacific Fund website. In addition to a completed application, the student must also submit the following: an official transcript of grades, including grading scale (online transcripts are not acceptable); a copy of an SAT score report; two letters of recommendation with at least one being from a current teacher; and a copy of the student’s Student Aid Report (SAR). The SAR is obtained by filing the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). The FAFSA is available online, at high school guidance offices, and at college financial aid offices. The application and all supporting materials must be submitted by mail and must be postmarked no later than the deadline date.
