Applying for admission to CPUT consists of seven steps.

RPL (Recognition of Prior Learning applicants):

- No manual posted or over the counter applications will be accepted unless for those categories that cannot submit online and as outlined in Step 3: Get an application form here
- Please note that applicants are limited to three choices. (except for RPL – only one choice permissible).
- Some qualifications require applicants to submit additional information as part of their application as outlined in Step 1: Choose a qualification and Step 2: Gather your documents

2025/2026 Late application information for the following categories of programmes with available spaces:
- CPUT students who have taken ‘n gap in their studies – 2nd,3rd, 4th-year Undergraduate studies only
- Advanced Diploma (Students who have completed a National Diploma/Diploma/Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent studies)
- Undergraduate students transferring from other universities into 2nd,3rd or 4th year at CPUT (excluding 1st year transferring intake)
- Postgraduate studies – M Tech/Master Course-based programmes
- Postgraduate studies – Post Graduate Diploma programmes
- Full Research Masters and Doctoral programmes are still open for applications until 15 March 2025/2026.

There are several international scholarships available for South Africans to study abroad. Here are a few examples:
- Mastercard Foundation Scholarship Program: This program provides fully funded scholarships to study at selected universities in Africa, Europe, and North America. It is open to African students, including South Africans, who are committed to giving back to their communities.
