2025/2026 Citrus Academy Bursary Opened

Applicants to Citrus Academy’s September 2025/2026 Bursary Program are encouraged to apply as soon as possible. Anyone who is interested in applying should do so using the information.

CLOSING DATE: 15 September 2025/2026.

The Citrus Academy bursary is awarded to deserving students each year, and will be awarded for the following fields for the 2025/2026 academic year:

  • Agricultural Economics
  • Agricultural Management
  • Agricultural Production
  • Entomology
  • Horticulture
  • Industrial Engineering
  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Microbiology
  • Plant Pathology
  • Plant Production
  • Soil Science

For postgraduate students, the bursary will cover tuition fees, required books and stationery, as well as housing, meals, and research costs. A student’s search for suitable vacation work will also be assisted.

BURSARY REQUIREMENTS FOR CITRUS ACADEMY BURSARY

  • You must be a South African citizen OR a citizen of Zimbabwe or Swaziland
  • You must have completed Matric
  • You must be studying towards a qualifications relating to citrus production or research, specifically one of the fields mentioned above
  • You must be studying full time or part time at a recognised South African tertiary institute (University/ University of Technology/ College)
  • You must be entering your 2nd or higher year of study in 2025/2026
  • You must be interested in pursuing a career within the citrus industry

Selection criteria will be based on the following factors:

  • Previously disadvantaged status
  • Field of study
  • Academic record
  • Proven financial need
  • Background relevant to the citrus industry
  • Gender (female students are given preference)
  • Disability status

Submit clear copies of the following supporting documentation with your online application (the submission of these documents is compulsory – if any items are missing, your application be disregarded):

  • ID document (certified copy)
  • Passport or ID document, if a citizen of Zimbabwe or Swaziland
  • Latest tertiary academic results (certified copy)
  • Latest tertiary exam results (certified copy)
  • Secondary education results (certified copy)
  • Motivational essay explaining the following: why you wish to study further, your background in the citrus industry, how you will give back to the citrus industry and citrus enterprise when you have completed your studies (max 500 words)
  • Details of your proposed research project (postgraduate students)
