Number of Awards & Eligibility: Three scholarships awarded annually.In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be currently enrolled in a graduate program at the time of application.
  3. Must be majoring in library science.
  4. Must be a resident of, attending college in, or planning to work in California upon graduation.
  5. Must be a minority student.

Description: This award is available to minority students who are currently enrolled in a graduate program related to library science. Additional Information: Edna Yelland graduated from the California State Library School in Sacramento, obtained a County Librarians Certificate and served as the librarian for Tuolumne County and then San Mateo County. She later headed the Cutting Branch of Richmond Public Library and, from this position, became executive secretary of the California Library Association from 1947 to 1963. It is in memory of this gracious woman who worked so hard to promote the goals of the association and of the profession that the Edna Yelland scholarships are awarded.

Award Amount: $2,500 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $2,500.
