Health Professions Council of South Africa

The Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) is a statutory regulator of healthcare professions in South Africa. The council promotes healthcare, determines standards of education and training, and sets and maintains standards of ethical professional practice for professions incorporated by the Health Professions Act No. 56 of 1974. The HPCSA regulates 12 categories of healthcare professionals. Registration with the HPCSA is a pre-requisite for professional practice and it is also a legal requirement to keep all personal details up to date at all times. As An Autonomous Body The HPCSA Receives No Grants Or Subsidies From Government. HPCSA Is Funded Mainly By Annual And Registration Fees It Receives From Registered Practitioners Representing The 12 Professional Boards Under Its Jurisdiction
